Simple Matters‘ mission is to improve the lives of shoppers, who also watch TV, by encouraging a new, social habit: sofa shopping. Almost all of us embrace a preference to shop for many things together, which we can exercise at market stalls, in shops, supermarkets and malls … but not when we are on-line.

Few on-line purchases, irrespective of whether via PCs, smart phones or tablets, involve social interaction with others, even when they are in the same room. This is because it is inconvenient to share viewing of these devices simultaneously across a group. These devices are personal and we are not good at sharing them.

Networked phones and tablets have been joined lately by “connected” TVs, where most manufacturers expect the connected TV feature to become standard by end 2013.Like mobiles and tablets, connected TV will change our lives further.

Simple Matters believes in three simple rules:

  • appealing to universal needs, such as entertainment and social interaction
  • being intuitive and easy to remember
  • encouraging repeatition to form a habit.
