Andrew BurkeI have spent my 30 year career working almost exclusively in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications sectors. After graduating from Kings College London with a degree in Electronics and Computing, I joined Thorn EMI as a graduate trainee and began my happy and rewarding relationship with all aspects of technology-related businesses.

In the early 90s, I was given the opportunity to get an early exposure to the online world by establishing News International’s initial Internet presence and publishing The Times, The Sunday Times, The Sun, News of the World and Today newspapers on the world-wide web.  Shortly after, I founded and ran the Internet Service Provider LineOne as a joint venture between News Corporation and BT which went on to become Tiscali UK and latterly sold to TalkTalk.

During the heady, internet bubble days of the late 90s,  I  founded and was CEO of eVerger, an eMarketing focussed venture capital fund backed by Aegis Group, a leading communications and marketing consultancy, and Warburg Pincus, the global private equity partnership, which together committed $100m to the venture.

In 2003, I joined BT as Director Online Services and was responsible for all value-added services developed to complement Broadband in the UK – including VoIP, security and payment services. I then became CEO BT Entertainment where I devised and ran the company’s TV-over-Broadband initiative (BT Vision), chaired their Premium Rate Services activity, pioneered their Digital Media Services and led BT’s relationships with the media world.

At the start of 2007, I joined the board of Amino Technologies plc and later took over as CEO.  Amino is a world leading IPTV and hybrid/OTT innovator – bringing entertainment products and solutions to a global market. With over four million devices sold to 850 customers in 85 countries, Amino’s solutions are deployed by major network operators and service providers worldwide.  Amino Technologies plc is listed on the London Stock Exchange Alternative Investment Market (AIM: symbol AMO) and is headquartered near Cambridge, in the UK, with offices in the US and China.

Today, as a partner at Snowy Road Ventures, I am Chairman of Crisp Thinking Group the global leader in SAAS-based, Community Management software, Chairman of Simple Matters Ltd elegantly combining the visual impact of television with the growth of mobile e-commerce and Non-Executive Director of StaffShare Ltd a Social Enterprise company delivering a compelling online marketplace for the secondment of employees between enterprises.  I also advise a number of other companies at different stages of development and with different challenges and opportunities but all with a common aim – to succeed by being the best they can be.
